Fiat is one of Italy's oldest and most respected carmakers. The company was founded by a group of investors in 1899. At the start, Fiat focused primarily on railroad cars, bicycles and tanks. Their early automobile projects were merely experimental. But after Henry Ford introduced his famous assembly line, Fiat knew that automobiles were the future of transportation. Today, most of the company's cars are manufactured outside of Italy. In fact, the largest plants are in Brazil, where Fiat is a bestseller. At present, the company employs just over a quarter of a million people and has successful operations in over 60 countries. Not surprisingly, Fiat is the largest carmaker in Italy. They produce some of the world's most sought after vehicles, like the Ferrari, the Maserati, and the Alfa Romeo. The company has received the coveted European Car of the Year award a record twelve times over the past forty years. What about used Fiat car sale? (more...)
used car dealers in the UK have many reasons to smile. Their market made it through the recession without government aid and their sales are on the rise. According to a recent report, second hand car sales were up by six percent in 2009. Not to mention the fact that their competition, the new car market, is expecting big declines. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the government-run scrappage scheme that gave a two thousand pound discount to new car buyers ended in March. The second is that most automakers have been forced to raise their prices in response to the weakening pound. As you might expect, this means more expensive new cars for consumers. And since car buyers really only have two choices, it stands to reason that the used car market will benefit from the increase in new car prices. Another thing that has most car dealers smiling these days is their inventories. During the recession, most dealerships bought up scores of secondhand vehicles from desperate residents at discount prices. And as the economy rebounds, they are selling these cars and trucks for a tidy profit. (more...)
Founded in 1937, Saab began as a division of Swedish Airplane Limited. And when the war clouds over Europe thickened, Saab was ordered to build fighter planes for the Swedish Air Force. After the war, the company made the quick transition to passenger cars. With their vast experience in aircraft design, Saab was able to create innovative designs right out of the gate. Their very first model, the Saab 92001, was completed in 1947. It was said to have the lowest drag coefficient of any passenger vehicle on the market. Saab started selling cars to the public in 1949. They moved a respectable 20,000 units of the Saab 92 in the first five years. A decade later, the company produced their first international hit. The Saab 96 sold 550,000 units in Europe. It was also the first used Saab saloon car to succeed in the secondhand market. (more...)
The used car market in the UK continues to confound the experts. When new car prices were sinking like a stone in the midst of the global recess, the secondhand market somehow stayed afloat. In fact, used car sales increased by six percent in 2009. But that's not the only reason why the average used car dealer is smiling these days. Not only is the used market on the rise, but its sole competitor, the new car market, is expecting big declines. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the government-sponsored scrappage scheme came to an end in March. This program provided a discount of up to two thousand pounds to all new car buyers. As you might expect, the scheme increased sales and carried the industry through the recession. The second reason why the market is anticipating a decline is that automakers have had to raise their prices due to the weakening pound. That means that the average cost of a new car may rise by as much as fifteen percent by the end of the summer. (more...)
The used car market has never been bigger. There is an enormous variety of quality used vehicles available to choose from at a fraction of the price, and people are not afraid to make use of this. The online database of used vehicles is massive, and it can often be confusing to search for the right car. There are several websites dealing in used vehicles, and they usually have a huge variety. A simple search for used car dealers in the UK should help you get an idea of the volume of used cars on the market. Rather than make the rounds of local car lots, it can be easier to do the preliminary search right from the comfort of your home. This means that you can shortlist and fine tune your preferences. An online search can also help give you a better idea of what kind of budget you need to have. (more...)
New car dealers were understandably apprehensive when the government-backed scrappage scheme came to an end in March of 2010. The scheme offered car buyers a two-thousand pound discount when they traded in old clunkers for new vehicles. It led to ten consecutive months of growth and sales increases of around twenty percent. In addition, car dealers were also told that automakers were preparing to raise prices as a result of the weakening pound. Not surprisingly, industry insiders predicted a difficult summer for the new car market. But that has not come to pass. While the market posted solid sales numbers in the two months following the end of the scheme (March and May), that was expected because most of the sales were covered under the scrappage scheme. June was the first month that the market would have to fail or succeed on its own, without government aid. Dealers were pleasantly surprised when they discovered that dealer car sales increased by 10.8 percent in June. (more...)
The automotive industry in Italy was nearly non-existent when Fiat was founded in 1899. At the start, the investors who backed the company were apprehensive about entering the risky new industry. As a result, Fiat focused on proven products like bicycles and railroad cars for its first few years. It was not until Henry Ford introduced his famous assembly line that the investors all agreed that the car was the future of transportation. Today, Fiat is the world's sixth largest automaker. Much of their success can be attributed to their expansion into profitable, underserved markets. Unlike many European automakers that focus primarily on European and North American Markets, Fiat also has a strong presence in South America. In fact, most of their factories are in Brazil, where Fiat models are perennial bestsellers. Should you buy a used Fiat? (more...)
When people think about buying a car one of the models that they always consider is a convertible. Traditionally, convertibles were always seen as exotic and pricey but that is definitely not the case anymore. Most companies have found ways to decrease production costs of convertible models and have begun offering them to consumers at lower prices. One such automobile brand that is offering convertibles at lower than expected prices is Saab. A used Saab convertible for instance is very affordable for the average person. Depending on the year and mileage, of course, will dictate the price but it is still in the realm of possibility for many consumers. A used Saab convertible is like any other Saab automobile except it is much more unique. When it comes to convertibles most people who buy them live in favourable climates to take advantage of the retractable roof. It is not ethical to make a convertible your primary vehicle in areas that are affected by bad weather. (more...)
Searching for a used car can be an extremely daunting process. There are so many factors to bear in mind when selecting the best make and model of car for you and your family. After a deep economic recession, used car dealerships in the UK are well positioned to benefit from the recovery. Unlike the new car market that required a government-sponsored programme (the scrappage scheme) to help them survive the recession, the used car market did just find. We know this because sellers were somehow able to post a profit in 2009. Why did sales increase when the economy was falling? The explanation is quite simple: people will always need a way to get from A to B. They can either take public transportation everywhere or they can purchase a vehicle. Since few residents actually have the time or the patience to take public transportation everywhere, they purchase a vehicle. And when the economy is under pressure and money is tight, people will always turn to the least expensive option. In this case it was the used car dealership. Dealerships can offer vehicles at up to forty percent off the price of new ones because vehicles depreciate at an incredible rate. (more...)
